Daaf Serné of Miro
Daaf Serné, Global Head of Workplace at Miro, is well-versed in workplace optimization. During his conversation with Nellie Hayat, he explains that the keys to a successful hybrid approach are establishing a strong culture, bringing people together in the office, and understanding how people use the building.
Immersive hybrid collaboration relies on periodically bringing the team into the office. To develop creativity between teams, “that face-to-face interaction needs to happen,” Daaf says. “The concept is built around having a heavy technology layer to understand how people are moving around the building.”
With this understanding comes new opportunities to improve hybrid employees’ time in the office. With Miro’s office utilization data, workers can book open workspaces and even receive suggestions to join colleagues who are in another area of the office.
The other advantage of understanding how people use the office lies in the ability to optimize existing real estate rather than building new spaces. “I sincerely don’t believe that real estate is always the fix. I think it’s about how we use the space, that is where we can find the solution,” Daaf says.
